Mitosis & Meiosis Demystified Screen Shots

3-D Chromosome Pictures Show Real Images of
All Stages of the Cell Cyle

The software includes 3-D reconstructions of chromosomes during all phases of the cell cycle. A gentle rocking of the 3-D image lets you see the whole structure, while diagrams on the left place the images in proper reference to the full cycle and text below describes what is happening during that stage.

Interactive Displays Put the Cycle in Order

Drag the gray box around the cell cycle diagram and watch the animated chromosomes inside change shape to match the position in the cycle. The text on the left similarly changes to describe the different stages. Students can move the box back and forth around the cycle until each of the transitions makes sense.

Side-by-Side Animations and Movies Show Progression Through the Cycle

These two stills show how animated diagrams are placed next to nemarsky movies of an actual cell undergoing mitosis. The animations make it very clear what is happening at each point, so you can easily interpret the real-life movie.

Tests Keyed to the Material

A variety of different types of test questions, such as this one where students must put pictures in order, allows students to test themselves to see whether they have mastered the material. If the students gets the question wrong twice, they are given a link to go back to the relevant section of the CD.
